Use the alpha periods for one activity, and the beta periods for another, or simply use one to take breaks. Set the duration depending on how much work you have to get done. It's all in your hands.
Ultimate Study Timer has two unique vibration patterns to alert you when the alpha and beta periods are over, so you never have to look at your screen. Just keep your device in your pocket. If you're on your device during a break, it will also displays a small message on your screen to remind you what period just ended.
